How longbto take plaquenil after alcohol

I started Plaquenil last week and so far the side effects are dizziness, nausea and tummy feeling weird. I was just wondering has long it takes to adjust and if taking twice the dose will result in higher discomfort.

Alcohol and plaquenil? By curious101. New Reply Follow New Topic. curious101 over a year ago. Can you drink alcohol while taking Plaquenil? I don't drink everyday, but have had some drinks while on NSAIDS and Prednisone and have not had any bad effects. What happens with Plaquenil? Hydroxychloroquine is taken in tablet form, with or after food. Your doctor will advise you about the correct dose. Usually you will start on a full dose of 200–400 mg daily, and later your doctor may reduce this. When your condition is very well controlled you may be advised to take hydroxychloroquine only 2–3 times per week. Symptoms can start to improve in one to two months, but it may take up to six months before the full benefits of this medication are experienced. Side Effects Hydroxychloroquine typically is very well tolerated.

Also, any tips on how to keep up with taking them on schedule? I have to take Plaquenil, Naturethroid and Vitamin D, everyday . I'm having lots of trouble falling asleep (been having it for a while), not sure if it's getting worse due to the pills.

  4. Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. If you're gonna experiment, I went off it cold turkey as it didn't hurt to do it that way, but you better get back on before the summer or you could experience a flare-up.

Plaquenil is a slow-acting drug, meaning that it can take up to 6 months to experience the full benefits of this medication, but it is possible for symptoms to improve in as few as 1 or 2 months. Plaquenil and other antimalarials are the key to controlling lupus long-term, and some lupus patients may be on Plaquenil for the rest of their lives. According to the Mayo Clinic, it can take up to six months' constant use before an effect is seen in RA 1. Plaquenil can cause serious side effects when used in high doses for chronic diseases such as RA over the long term. It takes anywhere from 4-6 months before the affects of Plaquenil are seen/felt. This is the case with everyone I know that takes it. My rheumy has saidand everything I've read on Plaquenil that Plaquenil NEEDS that amount of time to build in your system before it stats to have beneficial effects.

Effects of methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine combination therapy vs. Methotrexate–hydroxychloroquine combination therapy may cause lower disease activity in early RA than methotrexate monotherapy. Methotrexate monotherapy as first early RA treatment seems to lead to more treatment intensification.
